This branch is one of the main or parent branches of Engineering. It is considered as lifeline of an industry. It offers job opportunities in almost every industry since electricity is the main source of energy. With increasing demands of growing population, its future in India is very bright. There is vast potential of its further development in the country.
The students of this branch first get a strong foundation in Applied Sciences and Basic Engineering across a spectrum of disciplines. In the semester 3 to 6 they become quite conversant with all types of a.c. and d.c. machines, Electrical Measurements, Measuring Instruments and Control System Concepts and Circuit Theory, backed up by experimental work with sophisticated modern equipment.
Advance topics such as Computational Electro Magnetics, Transducers and Instrumentation, Superconductivity, Logic Design, Advanced Control Systems, Modern Electrical Machine Design practice etc. from part of the contents in higher semesters of this course.
Bio-medical Instrumentation, High Voltage Engineering, Computer aided Power Systems Analysis etc., form the electives in the 7th and 8th semester.
